International Students
Our educators are versatile in their backgrounds and teaching styles. Also, in addition to our regular instructors, many guest speakers from the fitness, health and business industries facilitate specialty topics in our classrooms.
Elevated Learning Academy is registered as a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) with Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). Our Designated Learning Institution number is O112565603857.
Both of our programs, Personal Fitness Trainer Diploma and the Applied Nutrition Science, are authorized to receive foreign nationals on a study permit. When applying for your study permit, please ensure to include our DLI number on your application form along with our Acceptance letter.

How to apply
Step 1
Select the program you intend to study
- Personal Fitness Trainer Diploma
- Cannabis and Health Specialist Diploma
Step 3
Submit application along with fee
The application form and documents must be mailed or emailed to Elevated Learning Academy’s Calgary address at least 30 days prior to the program’s start date.
Along with sending of the application form and documents, students must pay the application fee (non-refundable) of $75 for it to be reviewed. Payments can be made using one of the following options:
- Over the phone using Visa or MasterCard
- In-person using Visa, MasterCard, cash, debit, cheque, money order
- Email money transfers with the password ”international” to: info@elevatedlearningacademy.com
- Mailing of a personal cheque, certified cheque, or money order (do not send cash through mail) to Elevated Learning Academy’s Calgary address, payable to “Elevated Learning Academy Inc.”

Step 4
Receive confirmation of receipt of application and take Scholastic Level Exam
- On receiving the application form and payment, Elevated Learning Academy will send applicants a confirmation email and provide the log-in information for the Scholastic Level Exam (SLE)
- The SLE is a requirement for all students who do not have a Canadian High School or Post-Secondary Diploma
- Students are encouraged to prepare for the test by reviewing online samples such as This Practice Sheet. If students require additional resources, we encourage them to contact their Student Relations Coordinator and they will be supplied with those.
After Acceptance
1. Receipt of the Acceptance Letter
- After passing the Scholastic Level Exam, applicants will receive an Acceptance Letter along with a Student Handbook from the college.
- Upon receipt of the Acceptance Letter, applicants will need to confirm the offer to enroll by sending the signed Student Handbook (to be supplied via email) by the deadline stated in the Acceptance Letter.
2. Payment of Program Fee
- All International applicants must pay $425 when accepting the offer to enroll
- Payment options include Visa, MasterCard, cheque, money order or cash/debit (in person)
- On receiving the payment, Elevated Learning Academy will issue the student a payment receipt and Confirmation of Enrollment
- The remainder tuition fee of $7,470 must be paid on the first day of classes

3. Apply for a Student Study Permit (optional)
- Those international applicants that choose to apply for a study permit, must go online to the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) website in order to do so
- Applicants have the option of either completing an online application form or downloading a paper application form

4. Orientation
Orientation takes place on the first day of classes, where students learn about the program outline, schedule, and get an introduction to the instructors, administrative staff and other students
5. Insurance
- It is mandatory for all international students outside of Canada to ensure that they purchase health insurance for the duration of the program, prior to arriving into Canada
- An insurance policy can be purchased from any number of reputable organizations, including: Ingle International and Manulife financial
6. Travel
- To get around the city, students can make use of the public transit (buses and LRT)

7. Housing
- International students who do not have family in Canada and plan on living alone must arrange for accommodation for their duration of stay in Canada
- Students can find accommodation in Calgary or Edmonton using website such as kijiji.ca, Rentfaster.ca and viewit.ca
- Students can also contact the Elevated Learning Academy office for assistance in finding a suitable accommodation, by emailing us.
8. Additional Support
- Our staff members are familiar with various cultures, themselves having been born elsewhere and/or having visited many places worldwide.
- The language spoken by our team are English, Russian and Urdu.
- Our support staff are available to assist international students daily, during our regular office hours of M-F 9:30am – 6pm.
- Our instructors are available for the assistance of struggling students, daily, a half hour before classes and half hour after class.
- Career guidance and employability training is provided to all students.

10. Refund Policy
Please note that the $75.00 CDN International Student Application Fee is non-refundable.
Every student is given a 4-day cooling off period, where you can change your mind without penalty. If you choose to cancel your Alberta Student Enrolment Contract on or before the 4th business day after you signed it, ELA will refund any tuition or other fees you’ve paid (including enrollment fee).
There will also be no refunds issued for the $425.00 CDN Enrollment Fee if an International Student terminates their enrollment prior to applying for their Student Visa OR if an International Student terminates their enrollment after receiving their Student Visa.
However, a refund of $425.00 CDN will be issued if an International Student applies for a Student Visa and gets denied, given that the student sends ELA a copy of their denial letter from Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
Refund of Tuition – after training begins
If a student contract is terminated after the vocational training begins, the following amounts of the tuition fees will be charged:

- When 10% or less of the vocational training has been provided, 25% of the tuition fees;
- When more than 10% but 50% or less of the vocational training has been provided, 60% of the tuition fees;
- When more than 50% of the vocational training has been provided, 100% of the tuition fees.
Incidental Fees: There are no refunds for incidental fees, such as: textbooks, lesson materials, supplies, printing, parking or equipment.

11. Health/Social Support Services
Health/Social Support Services are available to help those in need in our communities.

12. International Student Handbook
All international students are required to read and sign the International Student Handbook at the time of enrolment. The handbook includes valuable information such as: Student Dispute Resolution Policy, Grade Appeal procedure, Attendance Policy, Privacy Policy and Academic Rules and Regulations/Dismissal Policy.
