Secret favourite exercise: Spiderman crawls. If I were to describe it… its an awkward shuffle on the floor I guess. It helps with coordination and it’s a full body work out.

Pet peeve: When people don’t put stuff away or wipe things down. It’s all sorts of awful.

ELA: Did you see yourself where you are today when you first enrolled for the Personal Fitness Trainer Diploma program?
I didn’t think that success would come so fast and so suddenly. I work from 6am-9pm Mon-Fri and 4 hours on Saturday. I really enjoy it. All sorts of clients and fun random people. I just didn’t expect to be so busy all the time! Within 2 months I became one of the most desired trainers in the club. I never saw that coming.

ELA: What has been your most embarrassing training moment?
Being bested by my mother at hot yoga. I don’t like yoga anymore!

ELA: What is your favorite pre/post work out food?
20-30mins prior to the work out I eat a banana or yogurt. After, it’s always something small and light, like fruit and water. This holds me over until the next meal.

ELA: Can you give us an example of a client you are really proud of and why?
I had a client that was not really motivated and didn’t know what he was doing. I trained him and he went from 30% to 16% body fat in 2 months. He now comes to the gym all the time on his own. I have a personal relationship with all my clients. I follow up with them and text them and make sure they are on track. I go the extra mile with my clients, and even go for jogs with them on days when we’re not training, like on Sundays. Its funny because now a lot of them will text me when they feel guilty for eating a chocolate bar.

ELA: If you could give any advice to students attending Elevated Learning Academy at this time, what would you say to them?
Humble minds. Something I have learned from coworkers and clients alike. Just don’t think you are hot stuff! Be modest!

ELA: What advice would you give to people considering becoming a Personal Fitness Trainer?
Be organized and manage your time well. Be sure to schedule a lunch hour for yourself!

ELA: Would you recommend Elevated Learning Academy’s Personal Fitness Trainer Diploma program to other people, if so, why?
Absolutely, I recommend anyone and everyone to be part of ELA. The Staff is excellent and the course is excellent. The instructors knowledge base is broad and the application is very relevant. ELA students are definitely above the rest. People have thought I have a full kinesology degree because of my knowledge base. This has brought the opportunity to train 3 other staff members at my gym, which I am privileged to do.
