Our educators are among the most talented in the industry. It would be our pleasure to put our extensive experience to work for you. In addition to our instructors, many guest speakers from the fitness, health and business industries will also teach numerous courses.

Jonathan Ottenbreit - Instructor

Jon has been in the training industry since 2003 and has loved every minute of it. He enjoys helping people reach their fitness goals, as there are so many benefits. He feel the best way of reaching one’s goals is by being true to oneself and having fun in the process.

Jon's passion for sport and general fitness led him to completing his Kinesiology degree at the University of Saskatchewan. He also played baseball for over 18 years (the last few very competitively). Now that he have hung up his glove he loves to compete in 10k and other distance running events.

Michelle Lyckman - Instructor

Michelle is a Kinesiologist with over 5 years experience and during that time has been in the position as personal trainer, athlete, owner, leader and presenter. She has had a great experience and good success in leading and training aspiring runners to half and full marathon goal times, including Boston Marathon, as well has assisted individuals with general fitness, maintenance and weight loss.

Michelle's philosophy of training involves training each person for life and to the best of their abilities is of utmost importance. Preparing an individual for the expected and unexpected events in life will make each person stronger on the inside and out.

Angela Welsh - Instructor

Angela has been in the fitness industry since 1992. She has worked in public, corporate, and not for profit fitness facilities. She currently owns and teaches at her own fitness studio in Langdon, AB.

Angela has a passion for teaching fitness and wellness to her exercise participants as well as to those who are pursuing their own career in the fitness industry. She incorporates a variety of teaching styles to ensure that all learners will get the most out of her classes/courses. What Angela loves most about teaching adult learners is that the love to have fun and that they bring their own knowledge to the table so everyone can learn from each other.

Abena Edugyan - Instructor

Abena has over 3 years of experience in the fitness industry and has held numerous positions, including personal trainer, fitness manager and group fitness instructor. She currently owns her own personal training business and instructs at numerous facilities in Calgary.

Abena believes in empowerment and growth through exercise and that everyone is an athlete. Her clients have completed Mt. Everest base camp climbs, hiked up mountains, lost weight and body fat, and run their first races. Her goal is to motivate people to reach beyond their fitness-related goals and make wellness a lifestyle.

Lisa Kettles - Instructor

Lisa is a Kinesiologist and Personal Training Specialist who has been actively involved in the fitness industry since 2006. Lisa is passionate about her career choice and her mission is to share this passion for health and wellness with others. She has successfully trained a variety of client populations including marathon runners, fitness competitors, older adults, post rehab, weekend warriors and weight loss. Her approach to training is holistic; transforming mind and body to increase overall quality of life.

Julie Rubin - Administrator & Instructor

Julie's role is to make sure that all students' needs are being met. If you have a question regarding your studies, your career or admission into the program then forward them to Julie.

Julie has completed a Bachelor degree in Business Administration with a focus on Human Resources. She has also been a facilitator of Financial Literacy and is a thriving entrepreneur. It is her goal to ensure that ELA's students graduate not only with a profession but are also well on their way into a successful career.
